Four typical builds for orientation – local, built on open technologies, and with no forced cloud. Every build is planned around your needs; the examples show what's inside and what you get out of it.
Home · flat · small office
Smart home – completely cloud-free
You want a home that thinks with you – but your habits are nobody's business. I build smart-home systems that run entirely locally: control stays in the house, works even without internet, and sends nothing to Google or Amazon. Existing homes can be retrofitted without tearing open the walls.
What's inside
Home Assistant (open source) as the local hub
Zigbee, Matter & Thread instead of Wi-Fi snoops
Scenes for lighting, heating, blinds, energy
Optional local voice control – no cloud microphone
What you get
Keeps working when the internet goes down
No subscriptions, no vendor servers that get shut off
Your presence stays your own
Fixed 230 V mains work is done by a licensed electrician – the automation comes from me.

Photos, documents, backups – in one place that belongs to you. Instead of a Synology or QNAP box with a closed vendor operating system, I build your storage on TrueNAS and the ZFS file system: open, transparent, with real protection against silent data loss.
What's inside
TrueNAS (open source) – no proprietary vendor OS
ZFS with checksums against bit-rot (silent corruption)
Snapshots: version history & ransomware protection
Encryption + automated 3-2-1 backups
What you get
Your data on your hardware – no vendor lock-in
Snapshots bring back accidentally deleted files
ZFS detects & repairs errors before they hurt

Network stack on UniFi + an open firewall
A network that runs reliably and that you understand. I plan and build your network with UniFi hardware (access points, switches, gateway) – managed through a self-hosted controller, with no monthly cloud fee. For routing and firewalling, open-source software such as pfSense or OPNsense is used on request.
What's inside
UniFi access points, switches & gateway
Self-hosted controller – no cloud requirement
pfSense / OPNsense (open source) as firewall/router

SMEs that want data ownership & predictable costs
Off Microsoft 365 – the self-hosted office
Files, calendar, contacts, office and email – without everything sitting at Microsoft. I set up a self-hosted office environment that runs in Switzerland on your own (or rented Swiss) hardware. The move off Microsoft 365 happens gradually and gently.
What's inside
Nextcloud: files, calendar, contacts, office documents
Your own mail server (Mailcow) with SPF/DKIM/DMARC
Proxmox virtualisation as the foundation
Backup & disaster recovery, set up to nFADP standards
